May 1st was closing in..since May 1st being a Labor day..all of us got a chance to plan for 4 day trip. Guruprasad called me and asked "lets go to Dabbe falls". I had never heard of Dabbe falls before. He told me it will be three day trek with 10 KM of walk daily (which in the end I realised was 20km). To be frank i was never fond of travelling earlier. But after i started my photography around 6 months back i been travelling extensively for photoshoots which kind of kindled my travelling spirits.
So the plan was to leave from Bangalore on 30th night reach Sagar by 1st morning and head towards our destination. Trek for 3 days and head back to bangalore on 3rd evening.
Our team consisted of 5 members and we were supposed to travel in kemp dabba (Red KSRTC) bus. All of met in Majestic bus stand. It was challeng in itself to get into the bus as it was long weekend and hence it was very rush. To add to it most of the seats very back seats which ensured that we dont sleep whole night. We knew we had bumpy times ahead as soon as we started the journey.
After that memorable red bus journey , we reached Sagar around 7'o click in the morning. There were joined by 9 more members who were there for the same trek . There, we met ganapathi rao, who was the trek organiser. He took us to hotel where all of us took rest for some time and had our breakfast. We left from Sagar around 8.30.
After 90 minutes of journey and changing two buses we finally arrived at our start destination of our trek called Hosa Gadde.
After reaching hosa gadde we had introduction session and Ganapathi rao briefed us about the forest ethics.
Later we distributed the groceries which made our existing heavy bags very heavy.

After travelling for hour or so we halted in one of the villagers house. They were very generous and gave us Sugar cane and pineapple which they had grown in their fields. We recharged ourselves and started moving towards Dabbe falls. The following girl was daughter of the villager where we halted. Her innocent looks caught my eyes.
On the way to Dabbe I had chance to shoot some nice portraits.
Crossing the small bridge was fun.....
Enroute we met some villagers who were repairing the house...since it was leaking because of heavy rain. They were so happy to pose for the cam, they left there work and came to pose for us :).
Say cheese...
After some photosoots we continued our journey. We went to Dabbe village where we visited "Nayakar Mane" (Nayak's house). We dropped all our luggages in his house. We had cook with us who started to cook the food for us at the same place. We all started to get ready to visit Dabbe falls which is around 2 KM from Nayarkar Mane.

The route to dabbe is pretty tough. You gotta climb down very steep path...with the help of tree trunks and stones. Pretty risky though.

We didnt take much time to get into water. I did some shoots and jumped into the water.
After having fun time in the falls we retuned back to " Nayakar Mane ". The food was already prepared and the smell of the sambar seemed to increase our hunger. We all sat outside in varanda and had Rice and Sambar along with mavina huli (prepared frm mangoes).

After having food and taking rest for some time we continued our journey towards one more villagers house where we had planned to stay.
Finally we reached the house where we planned to stay and met the house owner.
She had a sweet grand daughter named akshata.
In the evening we played games and antakshari.
After having night dinner near the camp fire some of us went for night walk in the jungle. It was pitch dark and we could only see light insects shining like stars. It made me remember that film title "Taare Zameen Par".
Though we were excited to sleep under the dark blue sky gazing at the twinkling stars, some of us didnt get nice sleep as it was too cloudy and too cold. Some of them even heard wild calls, which took our sleep away :).
DAY 2 of Mission Sharavati Valley Trek

We woke up early in the morning. Some of them went for Bird watching headed by Guruprasad. I had cup of tea and was looking around for some nice photo shoot opportunities.
When i opened my eyes first thing that i did was to click this photo. The beauty of the sky really redefined here. Havent seen such blue sky in my life.
Preparing for hard day ahead....
We packed our luggages and left that place around 7 in the morning. Our next destination was "Haro Halli " which was about 10 KM from dabbe. The route passes through thick forest area, and terrain is very difficult to walk. It had all the difficulties that a typical trekking route will have...snakes and leeches added to the thrill of this trek.
Narrow escape !! One of my team member had lucky escape...he was about to hold this when he was taking support of that stone.
Though the 3 hour trek was tiering we had loads of fun toooo....

Had a refreshing bath and we continued our journey towards "Haro halli".
We came down from that peak which you can see in this picture.
Finally we reached Haro Halli around 12.30 in the afternoon. We met some villagers there and inquired about the route to "Jain Basdi".
They gave us some fruits to eat....which gave us much needed energy...
After around 6 hours of trek we finally reached Jain Basdi. This temple is built 600 years ago. We couldnt get the info who built this temple though.
Though we did interior shoot we were warned not to capture the god statue.
We left Jain Basdi and continued our journey towards Geru koppe.
We had to cross Sharavathi River bridge to reach Gerukoppe.
Finally we reached Gerusoppa around 5.30.
We had to cross the river sharavathi in boat to reach the bus stop.
So we reached the bus stop around 6.00 and started our journey back towards bangalore...
All in all it was wonderful trip...total of 40KM trek in 2 days is pretty hard provided we hardly do physical activities in our day to day life. We were happy we did it.
For me this trip provided some unique photo shoot opportunities. And interestingly this is my first blog. Hope to continue with blogging in future. Hope you guyz liked reading this article.
